Another question about chevy 3.1 litre (head gasket)?

So, does changing the head gasket allways require adjusting the timing or positioning the #1 cylinder to TDC

or

Does everything usually stay the same where i could just put everything back where i found it ?

this is the part where im confused, I took the head off , then put it right back on, now im put on the rockers and push rods,

so as long as the timing is still right, than i can put the motor back togetherAnother question about chevy 3.1 litre (head gasket)? You say it's a push-rod engine, so the timing is not altered when the head is removed, but you will need to check and adjust the tappets (if the setting is when cold) and then again when hot (if nec.) I hope you've cleaned the block and head and fitted a new gasket.

A push rod engine has a timing chain that keeps the camshaft and the crank shaft in time. That will not change doing the heads. I'm thinking that your car is a DIS, no distributor so there is no timing to set. Just remember that when you start it the engine it will need to re-learn how to run. So give it a little time to do this. If you have a computer scanner you could speed it up though.
