Changed head gasket, started car and it made a rattling sound and car turned off.?

what can this mean, i checked the distributor cap and the wires were wrong. I'm guessing the previous owner had them wrong, i only changed them once and used that same order. Since i top dead centered it might have thrown the whole thing off. i charged battery and it still won't work. Could the starter or something else gone bad or should i just can the car? Please helpChanged head gasket, started car and it made a rattling sound and car turned off.?The first thing to do is make sure the spark plug wires are right because it sounds like there is doubt. You don't mention model or year (I assume it's a Honda), but look in the first source to verify the wiring. If it is wrong and you make it right you have a good chance of it working.

Otherwise, the place to recheck is that the cam timing is right. The timing belt had to come off to get the head off, so that is the top suspect.

sounds like you re-assembled it wrong and possibly bent valves when they opened at the wrong time-recheck the cam timing-if its off more than a few (like 3) you probably did major damage to the valves-also check compression that will tell you the same thing but may do more engine damage--hopefully you didnt put a hole in a piston----find someone who actually knows what theyre doin to help you

wow you should never be allowed to work on a car. my guess is you set the timing wrong and F'ed your engine up bad.
From your statements, it's obvious you know nothing whatsoever about engines and had no business changing a head gasket.
