How to change head gasket on mgf?

It's not an easy job. If you have to ask, you're in way over your head. Get it done professionally. How to change head gasket on mgf?Remove the head bolts. Remove head. Install new gasket. install head and bolts. Torque to proper specs.

Not an easy job if you not mechanically minded.... lift up the rear of the hood and remove all the bolts out of the tin cover under the soundproofing, then you can see the engine. its a very tight job as you have the timing belt cover behind the drivers rear wheel, remove rear wheel and covers to time engine before removal of cyl head. remove both inlet and exhaust manifolds and rocker cover, any hoses too. remove both timing wheels and plastic cover behind it, remove the 10 torx head bolts and lift off head. dont turn engine over with head removed as it might dislodge the wet liners, fit in reverse order, the head will nee skimming and pressure testing before reassembly using new gaskets and bolts

I think the Haynes manual goes into this - worth getting for any big car jobs.

My thought is to let a garage do it, you will need special tool (you can make a couple yourself) to do things like hold the pistons steady, plus the cylinder head might need to be looked at in case it has warped (standard to do for the Rover engines), you will need a torque wrench.

While you are at it change the timing belt, and cooling water pump, new gaskets (cylinder head and rocker covers), bolts, oil and filter and top up coolant.

All the waste fluids (oil and coolant) need to be disposed of properly

Anyway, I would ask a garage to do it, a bit costly 拢350 but a lot easier
why does everyone assume a manual - haynes or otherwise , will practically do the job for you? all these publications require some knowledge/skill to use them . as stated you are out of your depth if you have to ask !
