How to change a cylinder head gasket on a PEUGEOT 106 ?

Its Petrol 1124 cc year 1995 Any useful web sites or tech info procedue ect plz HelpHow to change a cylinder head gasket on a PEUGEOT 106 ?I have changed head gaskets on the Peugeot 104, 204, 305, 205. It is all very similar to your 106.

I believe your 1.1 liter 1995 engine is a TU type engine. The old 405 had some TU models also, and HERE is a free on-line text that you can read by HAYNES REPAIR MANUALS.

You should read it over and decide if you want to do it yourself. HAYNES considers this job 'Difficult, suitable for experienced DIY mechanic'

go to this website:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/413510/Haynes-鈥?/a>

and scroll down to page 2A-10 (page 50 of 301 in this pdf book) Removing Cylinder Head.

Download the complete book, if you wish, FREE, but download it as an ADOBE PDF file, to keep the photos, important.

good luck, you gotta learn sometime!

PS...DON'T put the new gasket on 'using a bit of sealant'. This adds a thin layer, making the new thickness TOO thick. And giving a weak layer to leak again later. Remember, the gasket has a metal construction to withstand HIGH cylinder pressure. A thin layer of sealant is a weak spot to %26quot;blow out%26quot; later.

The website link I gave above, one year ago, no longer works. Haynes manual on line removed due to copyright laws...

Put simply, once you've removed all the air cleaner, pipes, cables etc that are in the way, unbolt the rocker cover, then the cylinder head, scrape off the remains of the old gasket, put the new one on using a bit of sealant, refit the cylinder head, using new bolts done up to the correct torque, bolt everything back on, bob's your uncle!

If you've never attempted anything like this before, take it to a garage, what I've described above would take a Peugeot mechanic with all the right tools 2 or 3 hours!
i suggest unless you have any mechanical experience take it to a local garage and see if they could fit it for you
Seriously, don't bother!

It's a seriously messy job, plus new cam belt.

My 1993 106 had the head gasket done last year, along with a lot of other work. If you can possibly get rid and start again then do. I part ex'd mine today as the head gasket was the first of a long list of things to go in very quick succession.
