How do you change head gasket in 1999 ponitac montana?

if you are going to be working on it yourself I would recommend buying a haynes repair manual for it or a chilton manual

they are great for helping with repair of just about everything on the carHow do you change head gasket in 1999 ponitac montana?that is a 3.4 V-6, and the very first thing to remember is that the pushrods are 2 different lengths. exhaust pushrods are a tad longer than the intake rods.

the lower intake has to come off, followed by the exhaust manifolds. pull the front manifold off because the oil dipstick goes between the head and manifold. it's press fit, and a lot easier just to remove the manifold

for the rear, just remove the 2 nuts that hold the cat to the manifold, and pull the manifold with the head.

The answer is way too long to answer here.

To find out how, you have a couple of choices. Buy a repair manual for the vehicle. A manual will cost you about $25, money well spent.

Or you could go to the Auto Zone website. You will find a link on the left hand side of the screen called Repair Info. Here you will have access to free online service manuals for many vehicles.

You will not be able to download the manuals, but you can print any of the pages you need.

Another good source of information on this engine is the 60 degree V6 forum. Lots of good information if you poke around.

Unless you are a qualified techician, I would highly recommend you find one. That is not a job for a novice.
