Changed head gasket, car smokes smells like burning?

I changed the head gasket

the car started and the head got really hot and was smoking right away , smelled like burning rubber. The engine seemed to be running fine.

I know this isnt good,

the engine was filled with milky oil before i changed it.

it only took a few minutes for the head to get hot while the rest of the engine was cold.

Im gonna change the oil, and add more water, but do you know why this would be happening?Changed head gasket, car smokes smells like burning?Generally the head gasket blows because the engine got hot, so if you haven't fixed the underlying problem when you replace the head gasket it is very likely to just happen again.

There are several possibilities here. You don't say what kind of car so that leaves a LOT of room to speculate. Is your water pump working? Is your oil pump working? Are the coolant passages in the head clogged? Is your radiator clogged? Are the oil passages in the block and the head gunked up and keeping oil from flowing? A cracked head wasn't my first thought, but if the crack is large enough to keep coolant from getting to some areas of the head that could be it.

Basically, the head needs to be getting both oil and coolant and if it is lacking either it is going to get hot.

Another line of inquiry. Is your engine running way lean so that combustion is too hot?

after changing, do you still have milky oil??

could be cracked head, water passage blocked,,,,,,

head should have been boiled and checked for damages

before reassembly,,,,,,,,,,,,,

good luck,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
